Policies

Purchasing Procedures - The ERI Administrative team would like to make purchasing your supplies and equipment as simple as possible. In order for us to be successful in meeting your delivery request, we ask that you review the linked text and let us know if you have any questions or need further clarification on this process.

"Non-UC technology services" - also known as click-through agreements - require UCSB approval.  Acceptance of the terms and conditions without approval may result in being held personally responsible for the terms of the agreement (please see http://www.policy.ucsb.edu/policies/advisory-docs/clickthrough-guide.pdf).

Travel Regulations - Misunderstandings regarding travel policies may result in the inabiltiy for expenses to be reimbursed.  Prior to booking any travel, we recommend that you review the linked text and clarify with ERI staff any areas that are not clear.

Payroll Procedures - Employees should not begin working without signing hiring paperwork and checking in with ERI Personnel Analysts.

Without Salary Appointments for Collaborators - Individuals who plan to collaborate with researchers can be put in a without salary appointment so that UCSB recognizes them as employees. Having a without salary affiliation allows collaborators to have access to our network (datasets), library, ect. If individuals are employed on another UC campus they cannot have their without salary appointment at UCSB listed in the campus payroll system (PPS).  In these instances, we would gather the appropriate information (e.g. start/end date, collaboration information) and we would determine if we would keep the WOS information on hand internally or complete the campus letter. To move forward with setting up a without salary appointment contact payroll@eri.ucsb.edu.

Export Control - The federal government has increased its scrutiny of export control compliance by colleges and universities and can impose pendnties and/or criminal charges if not followed.  Prior to taking any materials out of the country, please work with ERI staff (purchasing at eri.ucsb.edu) to complete the process.  For additional information, please see: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/compaudit/researchcomp/exportctrls/ and http://www.research.ucsb.edu/compliance/export-control/
