The El Nino/Southern Oscillation is the main mode of interannual
variability in the climate system with significant worldwide impacts.
The ongoing 2014-15 El Nino is among the strongest events in the
historical record. This seminar will discuss the evolution and current
status of El Nino and other modes of variability known to influence
weather such as the Madden-Julian Oscillation.
In addition, winter season forecast outlooks will be discussed.
